Wisconsin CHIPS is pleased to announce its membership to the Southwest Advanced Prototyping (SWAP) Hub led by Arizona State University. The SWAP Hub is one of eight that makes up the Microelectronics (ME) Commons, which was established to position the United States as a global leader in microelectronics research and enable domestic fabrication. Areas of interest include 5G/6G technology, Artificial Intelligence hardware, Commercial Leap Ahead technologies, electromagnetic warfare, Secure Edge/IoT computing, and quantum technology.

Through membership to ME Commons via SWAP, Wisconsin CHIPS joins over 200 other academic institutions, national labs, manufacturers, defense firms, and startup companies focused on semiconductor innovation. Becoming part of the SWAP network allows UW–Madison researchers to establish new connections, access ME Commons proposal calls, and begin cross-institutional collaborations or projects.
