Wisconsin CHIPS is pleased to announce its membership in the Silicon Crossroads Microelectronics Commons Hub (SCMC), led by the Applied Research Institute at Purdue University. SCMC is a three-state midwestern coalition comprised of Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan, with members nationwide. It is one of the hubs within the Microelectronics Commons program, an initiative established to accelerate domestic microelectronics innovation and strengthen United States leadership in semiconductor research, development, prototyping, and transition.

The Silicon Crossroads Hub brings together a diverse ecosystem of partners to advance innovation, workforce development, and infrastructure across key areas, including 5G/6G technology, AI hardware, commercial leap-ahead technologies, secure edge/IoT computing, electronic warfare, and quantum technology.

Through membership in Silicon Crossroads, Wisconsin CHIPS joins a growing network of universities, industry leaders, government stakeholders, and other organizations committed to advancing semiconductor innovation. This membership will create new opportunities for UW–Madison researchers to establish collaborations, engage with future proposal calls and technical programs, and contribute to a broader regional and national microelectronics ecosystem.
